How often are new fish added to the site?
During the Spring and Summer months we add new fish to the site daily. During the Fall and Winter months new fish may only be added once or twice a week, depending on sales. The newest fish will always display first when viewing any collection on the site.
I can't find the fish I am looking for on your site, do you have it or can you get it for me?
We will do our best to find what you are looking for. We receive new shipments on a weekly basis during the Spring and Summer months. If you do not see what you are looking for on the site feel free to contact us with your request. If we do not have it now, it is possible we could have it in soon.
Do you ever run sales?
Yes, we occasionally will run sales and other promotions. The best way to keep up to date is to sign up for our newsletter. We also may post sales to our Facebook page so be sure to follow us there! Additionally, fish which remain unsold will be marked down in price after a period of time.
Where do you get your fish?
All of our Koi & Goldfish are produced right here in the USA by Blackwater Creek Koi Farms. Blackwater Creek Koi Farms is one of the premiere Koi & Goldfish breeders in the country and offers the very best in Health, Quality and Selection. We regularly make trips to the farms to Hand-Pick our fish.
Do you have a retail store?
Plans are in the works to open a new retail store for the spring of 2016. We recently (April 2015) purchased a new property for the business from which will allow for future expansion of our business including a Retail holding facility. Our facilities are not currently open to the public however we do allow local customers to pick up their orders placed through the website. Local Pick ups are by appointment only.
How do you ship live fish?
Shipping live fish is a lot easier and less stressful than most people think! The fish are packaged and double bagged in thick plasic shipping bags. The shipping bags are filled with pure oxygen and specially prepared shipping water. The bags are sealed securely with rubber bands and the bag is then placed inside a heavy duty cardboard shipping container. When needed, an ice pack is placed under the bag in order to help keep the fish/water cool during transit. We package orders as late in the day as possible in order to minimize the amount of time the fish will be in the shipping container. With an early AM delivery it is possible your fish will be in the packaging for 16 hours or less. Most packages are delivered within 24 hours of packaging. Our success rate on live arrival is well over 99%. When it comes to packaging and shipping fish, we are the best.
How Much is Shipping?
The cost of shipping fish is dependent on where you live.
What carrier and service do you use?
When will you ship my order?
Shipping days are Monday thru Thursday for arrival Tuesday thru Friday. Orders are shipped the day after the order is received. Orders placed before 1PM ET will most likely ship the same day. If you would like to receive your fish on a certain day please add a note in the "Order Instructions" section during the checkout process or contact us with your request. If no shipping day is specified we will ship your order based on our above mentioned shipping schedule.
When will my fish shipment arrive?
Your fish will arrive the following day after we ship your order. Most FedEx Priority shipments will arrive by 10:30AM. More rural locations or locations that are a further distance from the FedEx hub may not arrive until noon or 4:30PM. UPS Ground shipments are guaranteed delivery by "End of Day" so the time which your package could arrive will vary greatly.
Do I need to be there to sign for the package?
A signature is not required for the carrier to deliver your package. However, we do highly recomend that someone is there to receive the shipment. Packages left outside in the heat or direct sun all day could result in added stress to the fish or even death.
My package was delayed, will my fish be OK?
Unfortunately shipping delays by the carrier do happen on occasion. Although not ideal, it is our experience that the fish are usually fine sitting a few extra hours or even a full extra day in the package. Contact us immediately if there are any problems with your shipment.
How do I acclimate my new fish?
